So firms are turning to linguistic software to narrow the search.Rip-offs tend to occur in what gumshoes call the “fraud triangle”: where incentive, rationalisation and opportunity meet. To spot staff with the incentive to steal (over and above the obvious fact that money is quite useful), anti-fraud software scans

Glittering, glamorous Milan: a paradise for opera buffs, fashionistas, and lovers of fast cars and designer furniture. And, surely, the last place you'd take your young family for a cheap, no-frills holiday. Well, that's certainly the conventional wisdom. But I was determined to try. Irish threaten to ruin McCain Aintree repeat (2/15/2012 12:24:13 AM)
You can call Aintree many things, but a level playing field is not one of them. Few other races, after all, disclose as many random, chaotic dimensions as the John Smith's Grand National. As the dread words in French and English rang round the space-age stadium with the municipal-park facilities, announcing that the match was off, the popular translation was this: "You give us your hard-earned Euros and we'll give you days of anticipation that the freezing temperatures in Paris will make the pitch unplayable. Oh, but we will drag you over from Limerick and Dublin, up from Toulouse and Biarritz, in from London and make you sit and wait in the sub-zero temperatures, and make you believe it's on – and then call it off." Few men wear a suit as well as Bill Nighy. But then, few men wear a suit as frequently as Bill Nighy. He wears them onscreen, he wears them onstage, and he wears them for interviews, as I learn upon entering the small, generic hotel room in which we're due to spend an hour alone together. "I always want to wear a suit, and I nearly always do," he says. "I'm a fetishist about what they used to call 'a decent lounge suit'. I sort of want to wear the same dark blue suit every day, maybe with a different shirt. My range of enthusiasm is pretty narrow; I occasionally take a break into dark grey, possibly a stripe."

Buttonwood: Keep on trucking (2/11/2012 6:48:55 AM)
WORK until you drop. That is how many people characterise the argument of those—this newspaper included—who call for a later retirement age. Life expectancy may be steadily increasing but few are eager to add to their years of toil. Indeed, the French Socialist Party wants to reverse a recent rise in the retirement age from 60 to 62.In part, this resistance to working longer is because people tend to feel they are entitled to put their feet up after a career of 35-40 years. But it is also because many reckon old people should get out of the way so that the young can take their jobs, a sentiment expressed recently by Lucy Kellaway, a Financial Times columnist, who wrote that “the young can’t advance because everywhere they find my complacent generation is in situ.”Economists will recognise the flaw in this logic. This view is based on the “lump of labour” fallacy that states there is only so much work to go around. The same argument was used to discourage women from
